Act today · Green water

Algae is growing, which means the water isn't being disinfected enough. A proper pool shock kills the algae, the filter then removes it, and algaecide helps stop it coming back.

Start with step 1 — then run the filter, then add algaecide.

  1. Step 1 Pool shock
  2. Step 2 Filtration
  3. Step 3 Anti-algae
  4. Step 4 pH level

What helps

General guidance only. Always follow the directions on each product label.

Cloudy or milky water

Fine particles are floating that the filter isn't catching — common after heavy use, rain or low chlorine. Shock first so the particles break down, then give the filter time to clear the water. DE filters need fresh DE powder.

Start with step 1 — then filtration: run the filter longer and vacuum.

  1. Step 1 Pool shock
  2. Step 2 Filtration
  3. Step 3 Anti-algae
  4. Step 4 pH level

What helps

General guidance only. Always follow the directions on each product label.

Still hazy after shocking

The chlorine has done its job — now the filter has to catch what's left. Check that the filter runs long enough and, for DE filters, that it has fresh DE powder. Vacuuming lifts what has settled.

Start with step 2 — then add algaecide to keep algae away.

  1. Step 1 Pool shock
  2. Step 2 Filtration
  3. Step 3 Anti-algae
  4. Step 4 pH level

What helps

General guidance only. Always follow the directions on each product label.

Stinging eyes or itchy skin

Often a sign that pH is outside the comfortable range of 7.2–7.6. Test the water first, then adjust. Don't add chemicals without testing.

Start with step 4 — test, then bring pH back into range.

  1. Step 1 Pool shock
  2. Step 2 Filtration
  3. Step 3 Anti-algae
  4. Step 4 pH level

What helps

General guidance only. Always follow the directions on each product label.

Strong chlorine smell

It sounds backwards, but a strong “chlorine” smell usually means the chlorine is being used up reacting with sweat and dirt — not that there's too much. Properly disinfected water smells much less. The usual fix is a proper pool shock.

Start with step 1 — then keep chlorine and pH steady.

  1. Step 1 Pool shock
  2. Step 2 Filtration
  3. Step 3 Anti-algae
  4. Step 4 pH level

What helps

General guidance only. Always follow the directions on each product label.

Foam on the surface

Usually from body oils, lotions or soaps building up in the water, and sometimes from certain algaecides. A shock and good filtration usually help. Tell us what you've been adding to the pool.

Start with step 1 — then filtration.

  1. Step 1 Pool shock
  2. Step 2 Filtration
  3. Step 3 Anti-algae
  4. Step 4 pH level

What helps

General guidance only. Always follow the directions on each product label.

Scaling or staining

Usually linked to water balance — pH, alkalinity and hardness. Test first (7-in-1 strips measure hardness too), then ask us before adding anything. The right fix depends on your water.

Test first, then send us your readings.

General guidance only. Always follow the directions on each product label.

Act today · Larvae or insects in the water

Mosquito larvae mean the water has been standing without enough chlorine or circulation. Shock the pool, run the filter, and keep it circulating every day.

Start with step 1 — then run the filter daily.

  1. Step 1 Pool shock
  2. Step 2 Filtration
  3. Step 3 Anti-algae
  4. Step 4 pH level

What helps

General guidance only. Always follow the directions on each product label.

Not sure

Send us a photo of the water and a few pool details — size, filter type and water source. We'll tell you which step your pool needs first.

The SavePool difference

We care about your water and your costs.

Most pool problems don't come from bad luck. They come from the wrong product, the wrong amount or the wrong order, and every mistake costs money.

SavePool doesn't just deliver chemicals. We check your pool, show your staff how to apply them properly and follow up on the results, so your pool stays clean, clear and safe without overspending.

  • A check-up before any sale

We test the water and look at your filter and routine first. Then we recommend only what your pool actually needs.

  • Genuine, sealed products

Fuji-Chlon comes in sealed drums with a lock and hologram. We'll show you what to check before you open one.

  • Built for resorts

Bulk drums and sacks for busy pools, and regular supply so you never run out on a full weekend.

  • One clear method

Pool shock, filtration, anti-algae, pH. The same four steps, explained simply enough for any pool staff to follow.

The PFAP method

Four steps to a clean, clear, properly disinfected pool.

Clear water isn't the same as clean water. PFAP is the order we follow on every pool, so each product does its job and nothing is wasted.

Step 1 – Pool shock

Dissolve the granules in a pail of water first, then pour around the pool. The water starts to clear.

Step 2 – Filtration

DE powder goes in through the skimmer and coats the filter, which catches what the shock broke down.

Step 3 – Anti-algae

A dose of algaecide after the shock helps stop algae from coming back.

Step 4 – pH level

Test with a strip. If pH is high, pH reducer brings it back into 7.2–7.6.

A pool and its filter system: chlorine dissolved in a pail is poured into the water
  1. Step 1

    Pool shock

Chlorinate at a shock level to disinfect and oxidize the water, killing bacteria and algae — the step most struggling pools skip or under-do.

  2. Step 2

    Filtration

Run your filter to remove what the shock has broken down. DE filters use DE powder; sand and cartridge filters don't.

  3. Step 3

    Anti-algae

Add algaecide after each shock treatment to help keep algae from coming back.

  4. Step 4

    pH level

Test, then bring pH into the 7.2–7.6 range so the water is comfortable and chlorine can work properly.

Clean water · Healthy pool · More fun

Always follow the directions and precautions on each product label. Dissolve chlorine in a pail of water before adding it to the pool, never mix pool chemicals together, and wear gloves and eye protection.

How to spot genuine Fuji-Chlon

Popular chlorine brands get copied — and empty drums get refilled. Check these before you open a drum.

  • A sealed drum

The drum should arrive sealed. Don't accept one that looks opened or resealed.

  • The black lock

Genuine Fuji-Chlon drums are closed with a black lock. No lock, no deal.

  • The hologram

Look for the hologram on the drum as a second sign of an untouched original.

Not sure about a drum you've received? Send us a photo before you open it and we'll help you check.

An on-site visit where we test your water, check your filter and routine, and show you where chemicals and money are being wasted. You get a short written report and a dose card your staff can follow. There's no obligation to buy.

How do I know I'm getting a genuine product?

Fuji-Chlon drums should arrive sealed, with a black lock and a hologram. If anything looks opened or different, send us a photo before you open the drum.

Where do your products come from?

Our range includes brands produced in the USA, India and China, among others. Each product page lists the origin stated on its packaging.

Which products does my pool need?

It depends on what you're seeing and what filter you have. Most pools follow the same four steps — pool shock, filtration, anti-algae and pH. Tell us your pool size, filter type and the problem (a photo helps) and we'll recommend what to use.

Is it safe to pour chlorine straight into the pool?

Always follow the product label. As a general rule, dissolve chlorine granules in a pail of water first, add it gradually, never mix it with other chemicals, and wear gloves and eye protection.

Do you supply resorts and hotels?

Yes. Resorts, hotels and commercial pools are our main focus. We supply bulk drums and sacks, and we train your pool staff on the procedure.

How do I order and pay?
